Top model: Xiaomi Mi Note 10

    Xiaomi Mi Note 10

Especially for under 500 Euro convinced the Mi Note 10 with the great cameras and the strong battery life. But it can also score in terms of performance and display.

Advantages
Great photo quality and many recording options
Super battery life, short charging time
Strong 6, 47 – inch OLED -Display
Disadvantage
No wireless charging
No stereo sound
No certified dust and water protection

Our test winner among the Xiaomi models is the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 , which got a strong overall rating of 1.5 (very good) in the test. It has an outstanding battery and very good cameras. The display and performance were also convincing, but in terms of equipment we miss water protection, for example.

The Mi Note 10 has a 6.5 inch display with OLED -Technology. This enables a more realistic color display and strong contrasts. With a resolution of 2. 340 x 1. 080 pixels and the resulting pixel density of 399 ppi, the picture not only appears colorful, but also crisp and sharp. The high brightness of 627, 4 cd / m² like the strong checkerboard contrast of 170: 1 and full coverage of the extended DCI-P3 color space.

The performance was good in the test. Equipped with the eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 G processor and six GB of RAM achieve the grade 10 not only good benchmark results, but also enables smooth operation with effective multitasking. In addition to LTE and dual SIM, it also offers NFC, an output for headphones and biometric unlocking with a finger or face recognition. However, the device dispenses with protection from dust and water as well as a memory card slot.

The special highlights for us were clearly the battery and the camera . The latter enables effectively 27,1 Megapixels not only good quality pictures, but also a slow motion in HD with 240 frames per second (Full HD: 120 fps) and 4K videos with 30 frames per second. The battery is also one of the best of our Leaderboard and convinces with a capacity of 5. 260 mAh with an online runtime of over 13 hours. The short charging time of around 1: 12 hours also like, but inductive charging is unfortunately not possible.

Price tip: Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T

  • Redmi Note 8T 32GB

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T

With an unbeatable price-performance ratio, the Redmi Note 8T is particularly popular with bargain hunters. Despite the low price, the battery life and the great cameras are particularly impressive.

Advantages
Quality Performance
Strong battery life
Convincing quad camera
Very affordable price
Disadvantage
No wireless charging
No official water protection

With an excellent price – money relationship sent Xiaomi end 2019 a powerful device for the small budget in the race. In the test, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T not only because of the low price, but also because of the strong battery and the good camera quality. That we only consider the display to be satisfactory can be tolerated in this price range.

With the almost borderless 6.3 inch LC display, Xiaomi also offers a very good one in the low-price segment Pixel density of 410 ppi with a resolution of 2. 340 x 1. 080 pixels. The brightness goes with 591, 5 cd / m² okay, but the display disappointed with a very weak checkerboard contrast of 108: 1 and an only satisfactory color space coverage of 55% in the extended DCI-P3. In short: the representation is okay, but it lacks pep.

Equipped with an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Processor and four GB of RAM like the performance. For the price range, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T ultimately offers a surprisingly high performance. This is also proven by our benchmark results and the short loading time of our test PDF of 6.4 seconds. The equipment corresponds to that of the grade 10 and offers LTE up to 600 Mbit / s, dual SIM, finger and face recognition as well as NFC and a headphone output. However, we also miss water protection here, but we do get a memory card slot for expanding the memory.

As with the top model, the battery and cameras are the highlights 4. 00 0 mAh battery reached an online runtime of 13: 28 hours, but it takes almost 2 hours to fully recharge. However, wireless charging is not possible here either, the included quick-charging power supply must be sufficient. In contrast, the cameras are far more than sufficient. A very good image quality of the 48 Megapixel quad camera and a slow motion function up to 240 fps like the possibility to record 4K videos. As a smartphone with the best price-performance ratio of our Leaderboard , the Redmi Note 8T is definitely worth considering and is particularly worthwhile for bargain hunters.

Inexpensive but good smartphone: For under 200 Euro, the Redmi Note 8T is fully recommended. Picture: Xiaomi

Strongest performance: Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro

  • Mi 9T Pro 6GB/64GB

    Source: BestCheck

    Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro

Who for under 500 Euro nevertheless wishes a strong performance, will not regret the purchase of the Mi 9T Pro. But the battery, cameras and the display can also convince in the test.

Advantages
Class Performance
Strong OLED display without notch
Extendable front camera and in-display fingerprint sensor
Disadvantage
No stereo sound
No wireless charging
No memory card slot

Who regularly demands high performance from their smartphone and for example for 3D gaming or extensive mult itasking would like to be equipped with the Mi 9T Pro also a Xiaomi smartphone of the higher performance class. With its performance in the test, it was roughly the same with models like the Apple iPhone X or the Google Pixel 4 . For a price of around 400 Euro the performance of the Mi 9T Pro is quite impressive, but the cell phone was also convincing in other aspects.

This includes, for example, the display. This not only impresses with its borderless and notchless design, but offers a resolution of 2. 340 x 1. 080 pixels to 6.4 inches still a very good pixel density of 404 ppi. Thanks to OLED technology, both contrasts and the color space coverage are impressive. The brightness also pleases with 708, 9 cd / m², which makes it easy to read and recognize content even in sunlight.

The performance of the Mi 9T Pro is first class: Inside, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with eight cores and a clock of 2. 84 GHz together with the six GB of RAM for strong results in the benchmark. Our test PDF is also loaded in just 3.7 seconds via WiFi – even that needed iPhone XS longer. Thanks to the large working memory, multitasking also works smoothly and even more complex applications remain accessible. The rest of the equipment can also convince: In addition to standards such as LTE with 600 Mbit / s, Dual-SIM and Bluetooth 5.0 offers the model finger and face recognition, USB Type C, a headphone output and NFC. Unfortunately, both protection from water and a memory card slot are missing here. The large internal memory of up to 256 GB consoles over the latter but

As with the other comparison models the battery can convince here. With an online term of 11: 21 He doesn't last as long as that of his colleagues, but the runtime is impressive. The loading time of 01: 50 Hours are still fine, wireless charging is not possible. Also the triple camera with a total of 48 Megapixels achieved good results in the test Results. With a strong image quality thanks to sharp and detailed displays with good exposure and useful options such as an optical zoom, the cameras perform very well overall. The internal camera is stowed in the housing of the cell phone and extends on the top when it is needed. This will save Xiaomi a notch in the upper edge of the display.

For videos and photos, you can switch to the zoom or wide-angle lens. However, they are not quite as sharp as shots with the main sensor of the Mi 9T Pro. Photo: Belkis Köz / CHIP

How does Xiaomi compare to the competition?

Xiaomi tends to serve the lower and middle price ranges with its smartphones. Although some models are sometimes sufficient for the 500 – Euro brand approaching, economy models like the Redmi Note 8T for under 200 Euro but especially savers. While other models make compromises, the Xiaomi devices offer good performance, sharp displays and a good camera almost all the time. Especially the battery runtimes of sometimes well over 10 hours convince. With a similar target group orientation as Huawei, LG, Motorola / Lenovo or Honor, a comparison also makes sense here.

A strong alternative for under 500 Euro is for example the Huawei Mate 20 Per, which we evaluate slightly better than the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. (For comparison) The Mate 20 Pro can compare in particular through the IP 68 – Water protection shine, but also offers better overall performance, a memory card slot and one with up to 1. 400 Mbit / s nominally faster LTE. A sharper display is also offered here, while the Mate 20 Pro is the loser when it comes to cameras and batteries. This comparison already reveals some strengths, but also weaknesses, which runs like a thread through most Xiaomi models.

These can at least be found in the top Models with high-quality cameras and a long battery life are convincing regardless of the retail price. The performance varies, but, like the display, is absolutely fine in most cases. Only occasionally there is a lack of equipment: For most models, Xiaomi does not have certified water protection, inductive charging or a memory card slot – similar models like those from Huawei or LG offer a lot more here. However, if you can do without it and put a particularly high value on good cameras, you should prefer the Xiaomi devices, everyone else has a look at our Smartphone leaderboard .

However, if you go further down in terms of price, you can go to 200 Euro hardly about the purchase of the Redmi Note 8T from Xiaomi around. In the test, this scores best among all devices in the price segment, only the comes close. Motorola One Action for the same Price. (For comparison) Although this offers a quite similar performance and at least an IP 52 – water protection, but achieves shorter, if still good battery runtimes and has to be replaced with the Note 8T cameras to give way. But the display pleases with a higher pixel density and a higher color space coverage. Due to the similar price and the different strengths and weaknesses, your priorities are very important when making a purchase decision between the two models. Overall, Xiaomi is one of the few manufacturers that can still offer convincing technology in the low-price segment.
