Windows: Support-From previous versions in two phases
For Windows versions before Windows 10 the support ended in two phases. This affects, for example, the still popular operating system Windows 7. Since 14. January 2020 there are no updates for this version more. The extended and fee-based support for companies ends in January 2023. For Windows 10 – versions, support no longer ends in two phases, but depending on the date of publication. The edition also influences the time for the support shutdown.
Windows 10 – Service end of the different versions
With the various Windows 10 versions, the release date is decisive for the end of service. It also matters which edition you have installed.
Windows 10, version 1709 , published on 17. October 2017: For the editions Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstation the service ended on April 9 2019. For all Enterprise and Education editions, the support expires on 14. April 2020.
Windows 10, version 1803 , published on 30. April 2018: The service ended here for the Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstation editions already on 12. November 2019. The end of service for all Enterprise and Education editions stands for the 10. November 2020 on.
Windows 10, version 1809 , published on 13. November 2018: On 12. May 2020 is over with the service for the Editions Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstation. Support for all Enterprise and Education editions ends on 11. May 2021.
Windows 10, version 1903 , published on 21. May 2019. The editions Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstation receive support until December 8th 2020, on December 8th 2020 then the service for all Enterprise and Education editions ends.
Windows 10, version 1909, published on 12. November 2019: Do you have an Edition Home , Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstation installed, benefit by 11. May 2021 from Microsoft service. Users of Enterprise and Education editions receive up to 10. May 2022 Support.
After the service has ended, you can continue to use your Windows version without an update. However, security gaps are no longer closed and your operating system is no longer secure. Therefore, it is definitely worth installing an update in good time.
