We do not know everything we should about the coronavirus, but we do know its structure. Visual Science has created this 3D model of the SARS-CoV-2.
We need to know as much as possible about the new coronavirus to find out how to get rid of it. Whether it's with a vaccine, antivirals, or another type of medication that makes it milder. We don't know if it will pass or become seasonal, but we are still investigating. Now, a visual project has shown what the 3D model of the SARS-CoV-2 looks like.
This is the “most detailed and scientifically accurate 3D model at atomic resolution”, as pointed out by Visual Science, who is the one who made the animation. “It is based on the latest scientific research on the structure of this new coronavirus ,” they add. In addition to the animation itself, it also has an explanation of how this virus is causing the COVID – 19. The idea is that everyone has more information about SARS-CoV-2.
This 3D model of the SARS-CoV-2 is not the only one they have made . It is part of the project Viral Park of Visual Science. Among the other viruses that have also been modeled in this way are HIV, influenza / N1H1, Ebola, Papilloma, and Zika.

In addition to the coronavirus that causes COVID – 19 There are six more that can infect humans . Of these, four cause simulated symptoms of the common cold and are HCoV – 229 E, HCoV‐ OC 43, HCoV ‐ NL 63 and HKU1. However, we have heard a lot about the other two in recent months and they are the SARS-CoV and the MERS-CoV . These last two infect “the lower respiratory tract, with a high probability of serious illness and even death,” they indicate from Visual Science. Our new virus has been called in a similar way to that of severe acute respiratory syndrome because its structures are similar, hence the one that causes COVID – 19 be SARS-CoV-2.
But let's talk about the latest coronavirus and the structure that researchers have managed to recreate in this 3D model.
“COVID – 19 is caused by a new coronavirus the SARS-CoV-2. The virus is a thousandth of the width of a human hair, “the video begins to explain. “ It is more a molecular machine than a living organism . The nucleus of the virus contains its RNA genome protected by special proteins. The shell that surrounds the nucleus is made of a membrane taken from a host cell and matrix proteins encoded by the virus. “
“The small envelope channels help build the shell. And the infection begins when the protein spikes on the virus surface bind to the receptors on the host cells. Viral proteins cause the host cell to produce new viral particles. This eventually kills host cells. To fight viruses, the human body produces protective antibodies. These proteins prevent viruses from binding to host cells and attract virus-destroying immune cells. ”
