The Beats Powerbeats Pro (for testing ) with their ear hooks are predestined for users who easily slip other in-ear headphones out of their ears or who are wearing them Want to go in for sports not to lose earplugs. The Beats Powerbeats Pro are stuck without pressing and practically no longer attract attention after a short time. They are also protected against splash water in accordance with IP standard X4. Handling is also easy.

The sound of the Beats Powerbeats Pro is clear and bass-strong. Electronic music in particular comes into its own so well. The heights are open, but tend to be hard and “biting”, at the expense of harmony and relaxation. Voices also seem a bit cool and hard and not entirely natural. The headphones are not only in accordance with the IP standard 68 free of water damage with permanent replacement, it also has 4 GB of internal memory. You can listen to your favorite music without having to have a cell phone nearby. We found the SP 900 bland, but when swimming you probably don't pay attention to it. The battery life of just under 3 hours should also be long enough for most swimming events.

So we test

The sports headphones we recommend in this article are part of our True Wireless Leaderboard . Here we have dispensed with the devices that are not protected from water. It is not absolutely necessary that you use water-protected headphones to listen to music while exercising, but it reduces the risk of a defect due to sweat or a rain shower, so we advise you to use a product with IP rating X4 or higher.

Most of the sweat-resistant in-ear headphones are not suitable for swimming, by the way. This requires at least IPX7 or better IPX8. In addition, the headphones should have integrated storage space so that you do not have to leave your cell phone on the edge of the pool.

We rate true wireless in-ear headphones in three categories: sound quality, mobility and features.

sound quality : The sound assessment takes place only subjectively. We hear songs on Spotify Premium and assess the sound of headphones in the test environment. Specifically, it is about the questions of how bass, mids and trebles sound, how balanced, detailed and of course the sound is. Since the assessment is subjective, there is a certain amount of room for interpretation based on personal preferences or the physiognomy of the ear. However, since we compare dozens of headphones and have a very good overview of the market, our sound assessment provides a reliable guide. The category flows to 40 percent in the overall rating.

Mobility : We carry out various battery measurements, including the duration of the earplugs without recharging, the full duration including the battery case and the duration after only Load minutes. The charging time and the Bluetooth range are equally relevant. This category flows to 30 percent in the overall rating.

Equipment and comfort : In addition to specs such as the official water protection standard, we evaluate features such as magnetic earplugs, automatic switching on and off, size of the case, ambient noise mode, noise canceling and many more. The category flows to 30 percent in the overall result.

You should pay attention to this when buying

We recommend that you choose a true wireless in-ear for sports, training and more, because these headphones are very small and unobtrusive, do not bother on her head or wiggle back and forth and have no annoying cable. But there are also headphones that are suitable for sports or in-ear models with cables or neck straps. We have not tested the latter, so our recommendations only refer to completely wireless in-ear headphones.

It is important that the in-ear headphones are very firm in yours Ear sits so that it does not slip out while running or in the fitness center. The Beats Powerbeats Pro, for example, sits extremely securely thanks to the large ear hook, who can buy a model without a strap such as the Jabra Elite Active 65 t works, should try out the various pads supplied and use the attachment that offers the best grip. Then the sound is also the best.

The battery life of most of the in-ear models we tested is long enough for normal sports activities. Many last between three and five hours. Endurance runner like the Beats Powerbeats Pro, the almost 12 hours running in a row are also suitable for long marathons. After use, the plugs are stowed in the supplied battery case, which automatically recharges them.
