Remember that story from a year ago about a run of new Lancia Stratos cars based on Ferrari F430s?
Well, update: The first customer cars are ready for delivery
, per Top Gear
After initially building the new Stratos as a one-off, manufacturer MAT decided to extend production to a full 25 for people to buy.
The first two of those two dozen include a nice dark blue example, which we're left to guess is heading to a German buyer; and an all-out rally inspired version with an Alitalia livery, which is probably heading to the U.S.
The car is based on a Ferrari F430, which means the standard drivetrain option is a 4.3-litre V8 tuned to make 550 horsepower, and mated to the paddle-shifted automatic.
However, MAT says since the F430 was the last Ferrari available with a gated manual shifter, you can have one of those—all you have to do is steal it from a rare-ish Prancing Pony.
According to the builder: 'With this option, MAT is offering a unique experience combining the massive, well-controlled torque of the naturally aspirated V8 with the excitement of the manual transmission, an experience that is less and less available on modern sports cars.'
Only 25 examples of the sports car will be built and pricing has not been discussed, but considering that a Ferrari F430 has to be cannibalized to build one, it's probably not cheap. No word yet on any cars being delivered to Canadians.
