The month of Delaney

We have left the world of hockey and entered the domain of Delaney. . . the season for music festival, dance competitions, dance recitals, and selling girl guide cookies!!
The world of music and dance is much different than the world of hockey, that's for sure.
No screaming fans. . . music and dance fans have to sit in dim lighting and be absolutely quiet!! Maybe we should dim the lights in the stands in the rink and insist on silence!! Ha ha. I am not sure the hockey experience would be quite the same!
The dressing room is very, very different for dance than for hockey. The smells for sure are of a completely different variety, but they spread just as far through the venue. I must say though that although the tickle in my throat from the smell of hairspray is annoying, it is still quite a bit better than the turn of my stomach from the smell of the Midget hockey team!!
Another big difference are the sounds in the dressing room. The loud banging music and yelling of the hockey is replaced by the squealing of little girls as their moms pull their hair into a perfect ponytail or bun or apply eye liner and mascara! The moms of the little ones will be glad when they can put their own make up on.
Watching dance and music is of a whole different species as well. In hockey, you are praying for the safety of your child, and hoping for the perfect assist or goal to win the game. In dance and music, your child is subject to judges and the bright lights of the stage! You hold your breath as they make their way through the steps of their dance or the notes of the song.
With hockey you scream out and cheer when your child or any other on the team get one in the net, with dance and music you grin from ear to ear as they come onto stage to share their talents, clap politely and try not to tear up and embarass your child!
Such joy to watch your children do anything really. . . I am blessed to have three talented children that entertain me on a regular basis.
