Are we still saying that? I know Pepsi-Cola Canada was working it hard to get that saying to catch on at the World Juniors in hopes that it would be solid for the Olympics.
Well, whatever you are cheering, I hope you are cheering loud for our Canadian athletes at the Olympics!
I know that controversy surrounds the money spent on such types of events and on the training of athletes, but for me it is a great time to celebrate with fellow Canadians.
Many people have a sports team they cheer for and most times in a full room there will be rivalries amongst fans - only during the Olympics will you find most of the country united in their support!
I scoured the internet for weeks trying to get a pair of those famous red mitts to slap together as Canada slides down the slopes, skids down the track, takes a shot, throws their rocks for the button, makes a quadruple jump or any other of the things that our athletes will be doing.
I ended up paying double on ebay as I was too impatient, but I love them!
As my ski trip to the U.S. drew near I was so dissappointed that I didn't get a toque with a big red maple leaf on it to wear proudly when I myself was on the slopes. The Americans undoubtedly will be proudly showing their colours!
Although my favourite sports are curling and hockey, I can pretty much watch anything from the Olympics.
It will be interesting to see the coverage from the U.S. for the first couple of days. In 2002, we were skiing Canmore, Alberta when Canada won Gold in both the Men's and Women's hockey. Our kids were in the exercise room of the hotel watching! We were in our hotel room.
Well, have a great week! I hope you enjoyed your mid-winter break if you got one!
GO CANADA!!!
Eh...Oh...Canada, GO!!!
