Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho makes surprise transfer decision amid full-back concerns

That's according to reports from ESPN
The Red Devils boss is said to be concerned about Antonio Valencia and Diogo Dalot, who have spent prolonged spells on the sidelines this season.
Summer signing Dalot has yet to make a Premier League appearance for United due to injuries since arriving from Porto while Valencia has been dogged by knee troubles, missing the last seven games.
Darmian has only made one outing himself, playing 90 minutes in an opening day win over Leicester in the top flight.

But having dropped out of the squad in the three league games following that, Darmian has resumed bench duties for the past six games across all competitions including clashes with Juventus in the Champions League.
Darmian was thought to be nearing a permanent switch to Juve in the summer but eventually ended up remaining at Old Trafford.
That was despite the 28-year-old publicly declaring his wish to leave and ideally secure a return to Serie A, having joined United from Torino three years ago.
He told Italian newspaper Libero: 'United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, anyone must deserve the place and I work in light of this.

"But of course I'd rather play more, even if it means leaving Manchester; where I dream of going back to is Italy, in Serie A, where I got a lot of satisfaction."
Yet despite his limited minutes this season, Mourinho wants to keep Darmian at least until the summer as back-up given that he can play at right-back or left-back.
Ashley Young and Luke Shaw have served as first choice defenders lately but behind Shaw, United have little depth.
The Italian international is out of contract at the end of the season, although the club can activate a 12-month extension in order to try and earn a fee from any exit.

United could then bring Timothy Fosu-Mensah back into the first-team fold with the versatile academy graduate on loan at Fulham until the end of the season.
ESPN report that the Dutchman will not be recalled early as United look for the former Ajax trainee to get another full year's development in the Premier League after 24 appearances for Crystal Palace last season.
United are already in contract talks with Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young, David De Gea and Anthony Martial.
But recent reports indicate Jose Mourinho is prepared to let Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo leave in the January transfer window as he seeks a new centre half.
