gave Sir Frank Williams the perfect present for his 50th anniversary as a team principal — as he took him on a hot lap of Silverstone.
Williams is regarded as one of the most important people in the history of Formula One, having had an extended career in which he has driven, built cars and run racing teams.
And that was celebrated by F1 chiefs as they sent him on a high-speed drive with the current world champion.
There was no holding back from Hamilton, who went at full pelt once the 77-year-old was strapped in to the Mercedes AMG GT R.
They dashed around the circuit in Northamptonshire — which will host the British Grand Prix for another five years after signing a deal this week.
Williams was impressed by what he experienced with Hamilton at the wheel, while also lurching about in his seat.
While they were only meant to go on one lap around the track, they decided to ignore the stewards and go around again after they arrived at the home straight.
Hamilton showed off his prowess behind the wheel as he drifted around some of the corners before pulling off a series of donuts.
That drew a reaction from Williams, who shouted: 'You're a hooligan!'
Not that he failed to have fun during the experience, commenting: 'That was enjoyable, very enjoyable.
'Quite unforgettable, I must say. Quite unforgettable Lewis - something that will live on in my brain for a long time to come Lewis. You're a star.'
Hamilton replied: 'I will always remember that, just thank you so much for going with me. I appreciate you.'
