Bengough -
On January 25th, Canadian Country Music Star, Deric Ruttan will be making a stop on his "Sunshine" tour at the Big Beaver Hall. The tour follows the release of his third disc which hit the stores on January 12, 2010.
Ruttan was raised just outside of Bracebridge, ON on land where his grandfather had lived in the 30's. He spent seven years in Nashville before releasing his first disc Deric Ruttan and it would be four and a half years before the release of his second disc First Time In A Long Time with his third disc Sunshine following a mere 16 months later.
The reason for the long time lapse between his first and second discs was not because Ruttan hadn't been busy. As well as being an accomplished singer, Ruttan is also a first-rate songwriter. Collaborating with such artists as Dierks Bentley, Aaron Pritchett and Paul Brandt, to name a few, Ruttan has racked up an impressive resume of chart topping songs and in 2007 Ruttan was awarded the Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) for Songwriter Of The Year (along with co-writers Aaron Pritchett and Mitch Merrett) for "Hold My Beer", recorded by Aaron Pritchett.
Ruttan and his band have a reputation for putting on high energy shows. The energy and the intimacy of Ruttan's live performances come through on every track on Sunshine. Ruttan wrote or co-wrote every track on this new disc and when writing and recording the new disc he kept in mind the energy he likes to emit during his concerts and, to a degree, this influenced the song selections for this new venture.
So, if you want to be part of a high energy, yet intimate concert, plan to be in Big Beaver, Monday, January 25th. For times, dates and ticket information see the ad in this weeks issue.
