Teddy Bear Clinic at the library
On Thursday, October 23 the Coronach Library hosted a Teddy Bear Clinic. Local youngsters were invited to bring their stuffed friends to the library where they would be examined by local registered nurses.
Carol Shelstad and Joan Miller were on hand to check the preschoolers' friends.
Each examination included a check of their temperature and blood pressure, a check of their eyes and ears and a treatment plan for any ailments that were reported by the owners.
Each child received a health certificate with their friend's name and report along with the treatment plan that might include instructions for hugs and kisses or a day of bed rest with their owners.
The clinic was the idea of Deena McCarter, the assistant librarian at the Coronach Library. McCarter saw a similar clinic on television and thought it would be a good idea. McCarter said that normally this would be done at the local medical clinic but since ours is closed she thought it would be a good idea to host one, especially now that our children may have to go to unfamiliar people for healthcare.
Carol Shelstad explained the clinic, " It gives the kids a chance to see all of the equipment that we sue before they come in and it makes it less hard on them if we show them what we do on a teddy bear."
